Behind the Scene: Stormy Beach

This scene was so fun to make, yet also challenging with the many layers of clouds and waves! And what made it extra special was who I made it for- my mom! My father passed away a few years ago and this beach was a place he loved to walk with my mom while they lived in Maryland for a time. It was wonderful to recreate a place that was close to their hearts and their lives.

This is an early morning sunrise at the beach in January in Ocean City, Maryland.

What is the significance of this piece?

This was a photo taken the last time my late husband and I visited Ocean City.

What is your favorite thing about this piece?

This piece reminds me of the annual retreat our craft group held each winter in Ocean City and the wonderful people who are part of the group.

Where will this artwork be displayed and who will enjoy it?

This piece hangs above my bed where I can enjoy it each morning and each evening.

What emotions do you feel while looking at this artwork?

This piece is able to elicit many emotions - mostly happy as a reminder of the many years my husband and I shared, yet bittersweet in knowing this was our last Ocean City adventure together.
